The Research Room is open to the public on weekdays 10am to 4pm.

Our archivist is avilable to assist your research enquiry.


The collection includes council, club, family, business, school and church archives.

There are also subject and family files and a very extensive image collection.

The collection is extensive.

If you would like to visit for research, it often pays to call ahead, so that material can be made available.



There is no charge for accessing family files, photo catalogue databases and the museum library in person; however donations towards museum costs are appreciated.

Researching in museum archives can only be carried out by museum staff. Charges apply for photocopying, printouts and in-depth research conducted by staff beyond initial introductory work.

There is no charge for simple counter or telephone enquiries, or the first half hour of searching finding aids, but donations are appreciated.
